CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 2, 2010 <br />7:30 PM <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Vice Chair Short called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M., and Wiley led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Holt, Jacobsen, Lange, Short <br />Directors Absent: Gibson <br />Staff Present: General Manager Friedl, Administrators Hare and Lewanda, Recreation <br />Manager Wiley, Information Technology (I.T.) Analyst Segedie, and Executive Assistant <br />Ohren <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATION <br />Ride On Annual Report -- Brian McQueeney <br />McQueeney referenced the annual report, and noted the fundraiser on September 25 at the <br />EI Campeon Farms. He expressed pride in Ride On's accomplishments and appreciation for <br />the District's leadership, vision and faith in Ride On. This year marks 9'h years of service to <br />the disabled community of the Conejo Valley. Twenty thousand individuals have been put on <br />horseback, and 50,000 hours of community service have been facilitated. The year has been <br />challenging due to current economic conditions. He said Ride On's success is due, in part, to <br />financial transparency and the "world class" Ride On staff. He noted the presence of Board <br />member Wyatt McCrea and Program Director Gloria Hamblin. He also summarized progress <br />at the San Fernando Valley Ride On facility. <br />Board members offered sincere congratulations to McQueeney on his success. <br />4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />Barbara Kloster, Thousand Oaks, invited everyone to Day of the Horse, sponsored by <br />Corral 37, on September 11 at the Conejo Creek Equestrian Park. <br />Kloster expressed concern over the recent installation of the bike path. She said a fence is <br />needed to separate bikers from equestrians. <br />Kloster spoke of a recent automobile accident near the 23 freeway, and said a sound wall or <br />barrier is needed. She urged that Cal Trans be alerted to the perceived problem. <br />Tina Fruogli, Thousand Oaks, urged design changes in portions of the path. <br />
