September 2, 2010 <br />Page 5 <br />B. Recreation Division Report <br />Wiley referenced documentation, and highlighted recreation events and activities. <br />The Labor Day Concert and final concert of the Summer Concerts in the Park season <br />will present Queen Nation on September 6. Conejo through the Lens on September <br />10 will feature an historical display of Conejo Valley photos, a barbecue and a <br />scanning session of personal photos. The Grand Opening to introduce the Borchard <br />Park Labyrinth and Fitness area will be held on Saturday, September 18, and will <br />include a wishing tree ceremony. <br />C. Management Services Division Report <br />Lewanda referenced a handout from New World Systems and noted that Friedl will be <br />the opening speaker at the September conference. She also noted the Hospice Las <br />Vegas Cool event at Los Robles Golf Course on September 11. <br />D. General Manager's Report <br />Friedl announced the retirement of Dr. Liz Benton, effective October 4. He said it is <br />hoped that a party can be arranged sometime in October. <br />He said that Dr. Mathias, organizational consultant, has been contacted to meet with <br />staff in focus groups to identify ways that CRPD can be enhanced. <br />E. Directors' Reports <br />F. Follow -Up Reports on Meetings/Conferences Attended <br />Lange said he hosted a successful recent Cal LAFCO meeting at which Joe <br />Edmiston spoke. He said that Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy (SMMC) and <br />Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority (MRCA) approved the Malibu <br />Public Works Program at their recent meeting. <br />Holt said that as a member of the California Lutheran University (CLU) Committee for <br />Economic Forecasting, she will keep the Board informed when substantive issues <br />arise. <br />Lange thanked Jacobsen for attending the recent Ventura County Special Districts <br />Association (VCSDA) meeting. <br />
