July 9, 2009 <br />Page 4 <br />Grading nas commenced and irrigation design is being revised at Northwood <br />Neighborhood Park, and work on lighting improvements at Thousand Oaks Park will <br />begin July 13. Staff is working with volunteer groups to do preliminary work on a disc <br />golf area at Thousand Oaks Park, <br />B. Recreation Division Report <br />Benton said that the community pool at California Lutheran University has been well <br />attended. During the month of June, 958 classes were held and 2,793 members of <br />the public used the pool. <br />She referenced documentation and highlighted recreation events and activities. <br />She said that the Teen Center will host the Mid -Summer Dance for incoming 7th, 8th <br />and 91h grade students on July 11. CRPD swim teams will participate in two novice <br />swim meetings in summer 2009 and swim meets will be held on July 11 and 25 at <br />Oaks Christian School in Westlake Village. On Sunday July 19, the Mighty Cash <br />Cats will perform as the next offering of the 2009 Summer Concerts in the Park. The <br />Young Artists Ensemble presents Westside Story as its 29th annual Teen Summer <br />Musical. The production begins July 17 at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. <br />Thousand Oaks Center will host a two-day Tropical Daze Summer Music Festival on <br />July 25 and 26 and will include a Hawaiian Luau Buffet and Polynesian Show. <br />C. Management Services Division Report <br />Lewanda stated that the recent assessor's report indicated that -assessed valuation in <br />Thousand Oaks is up .21 %. She said it is not anticipated that the District or <br />Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority (MBCA) will be recipients of any <br />IOUs from the State. <br />D. General Manager's Report <br />Friedl commended members of senior staff for their efforts. <br />He announced that a Closed Session would be held, but only the portion of the <br />meeting pursuant to Government Code Section 54956.9 - conference with Legal <br />Counsel on Existing Litigation — would be necessary. Short will not participate in the <br />Closed Session, and Director Lange will participate via telephone from Kauai, <br />Hawaii, where proper notification has been observed. <br />
