concert (typically on a Saturday night) whenever necessary. She is well -liked by all, and is always cheerful, patient, and kind. Mary Jo has lived in Newbury Park for over 20 years now and has always been involved in youth sports, her church, and is dedicated to her husband and boys. She works hard and makes a difference in the community and with the teens served. Manuel Ortiz has been with the District since 2006 and has proved his value on a daily basis. Manuel promoted quickly from Groundsworker 11 and has been a crew leader for nearly a year. He currently supervises parks at the west end of the District and is always the "go to" guy for anything that comes up. He continues to show a high level of leadership and gets along well with others. Manuel recently attended Pacific Southwest Maintenance Management School, and plans to implement some of the techniques he learned to enhance District services. Manuel represented the District well at the Ventura Corporate Games this past summer in the demanding sport of bowling. He also enjoys fresh water fishing. We are proud to have Manuel on our team. This generalized topic area will work on a broad set of organizational health related areas such as employee recognition, wellness programs, enhanced employee training programs, professional training and networking for employees.
