Below is information relative to the Parks <br />and Planning, and Recreation and Community Services Divisions annual service <br />award recipients. <br />Aaron Council, Recreation Leader, has worked at Borchard Community Center <br />for 10 years, first as a recreation aide, then gym attendant and now a recreation <br />leader. He is a talented artist and has designed many skateboard decks for use <br />as awards for skate contests and monthly drawings. He has maintains the front <br />bulletin board in a creative and artistic fashion and has taken the Pirate and <br />Dinosaur classes to a new creative and fun level. He is a team player, very <br />dependable and has gained the utmost respect from his co-workers, instructors, <br />coaches, participants, parents and supervisors. He is 'a mentor to many of the <br />challenging youths who attend the center. He has worked on the volunteer <br />program for the skate park, often assists with Teen Center dances, is involved <br />with sports league monitoring and has worked for the past nine years with the <br />ArtWalk. In addition, he is involved with the Calvary Chapel in Thousand Oaks. <br />Melissa Schlegel, Reservations Clerk at Hillcrest Center. Melissa has been a <br />tremendous asset to the Reservations and sports units for the past three years. <br />She puts together and organizes all of the permits and paperwork for the field <br />distribution meetings for the sports section in addition to updating the seasonal <br />literature. Melissa takes ownership of her responsibilities for the seasonal field <br />meetings and speaks to the group at each one.
