Activity Summary - March, April, May 2006 - No Comment <br />11. DEPARTMENT REPORTS <br />A. Park Division Report <br />Friedl expressed appreciation to the Board for its support, and stated that <br />Tom Hare will assume the position of Administrator, Parks and Planning <br />August 7. <br />In response to Jacobsen's inquiry relative to the status of the Lang Ranch <br />project, Friedl said that a meeting has been scheduled to discuss geo- <br />technical issues. <br />B. Recreation Division Report <br />Benton reported that fall registration is in progress, and out -of -district <br />registration starts August 14. On August 13 and September 4, the Concert <br />in the Park series will feature "Billy Vera and the Beaters" and "Bella <br />Donna," respectively. On August 3-5, the Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park <br />and Westlake High School Pools will host the 2006 National Junior <br />Olympic Water Polo Tournament. Teen excursions to Magic Mountain and <br />Urban Quest Paintball Fields will be the last of the summer excursions <br />offered by the Teen Center. The Cultural Unit will present the Young <br />Artists Ensemble musical "Edges" at the Hillcrest Center Theatre on <br />August 11. The Family Campout Night in Wiidwood Park sponsored by the <br />Outdoor Unit will be held on August 19-20. Goebel Senior Adult <br />Center's tabor Day Breakfast will be September 4 and will include <br />entertainment. Thousand Oaks Community Center's Summer <br />Enrichment Camps, are scheduled for August 7 through 11. Staff has <br />received many appreciative comments regarding a fence which was <br />installed around the Old Meadows Center "SensAbilities" playground. <br />Jacobsen suggested consideration be given to the possible use of the <br />natural landscape adjacent to Old Meadows Center, and the potential <br />expansion of Old Meadows programming. <br />
