R 0
O& 044%
Therapeutic Horsemanship
401 Ronel Court, Newbury Park, CR 91320 Tel No (805) 375 9078 Fax No (805) 375 8640
Annual Report 2404
Ride On gave a total of 5,072 lessons to 135 clients on a weekly
basis - a 3.5% increase over the previous year. Over 115 volunteers
each week donated over 14,077 hours of work. Almost 82% of each
dollar raised went directly to put a disabled rider on a horse.
The 3 Biggest Expenses are Our Horses, Our Ranch, Our Instructors.
Ride On added an ADA approved ramp from the bam to the mounting
area and continued to renovate our second barn in Thousand Oaks.
We received support from the Doug Flutie Foundation for
Scholarships for students with Autism; the Santa Monica Mounted
Police for student and horse sponsorships; The Fanny and Svante
Knistrom Foundation for scholarships; Help Youth Charities for office
trailer improvements and the Amateur Athletic Foundation for the
purchase of a horse. We used funds from Boeing to expand our
Carriage Driving Program and from the Weingart Foundation to
expand our Hippotherapy Program in Thousand Oaks.
We launched an annual giving campaign —the Diamond Horseshoe
Club. We received 88,000lbs of recycled rubber from the Ford
Motor Co for arena footing_
We certified 3 additional NARHA Instructors, 2 EAGAL.A Level 1
Instructors and 2 Driving Instructors. We launched an Equine
Assisted Psychotherapy program in Chatsworth and our
Hippotherapy program in Thousand Oaks.
Mr. David H. Murdock donated the use of Ventura Farms for a gala
fundraiser and his Conservatory for our Annual Giving Campaign
Reception. The fundraiser will be held again this year on
September 24, 2005.
75% of our riders are children; 50% are physically disabled and
50% are mentally disabled. Most riders have multiple disabilities
requiring extensive staff and volunteer support. Lesson fees cover
only 1I5 of the cost of a lesson so all riders benefit from scholarships raised by the volunteers of Ride On. Our
staff includes 8 certified instructors, 4 Physical Therapists and 27 horses. Ride On remains the only nationally -
accredited program in LA or Ventura counties which brings a Physical Therapist to our ranch to use the horses'
movement to improve specific medical conditions.
Major Supporters include:
Sources of Support:
$695,243
Grants
20%
Special Events
24%
Lessons
21%
Donations
32%
Boarding
3%
Expenditures:
$637,655
Instruction Salaries
45%
Horse & Ranch Operations
21%
Fundraising
11%
Administration
7%
SupplieslTack
3%
Staff/Program Development
2%
Insurance
1%
Other
6%
Depreciation
4%
Net income: $57,588
Total Net Assets: $469,008
Audited 2004 financial statements available at
www.RideOn.arp
David H.
