Therapeutic Horsemanship <br />401 Ronel Court, Newbury Park, CA 91320 Tel No (805) 375 9078 Fax No (805) 375 8640 <br />August 25, 2005 <br />Mr. Jim Friedl <br />Assistant General Manager <br />Conejo Recreation and Park District <br />403 West Hillcrest Drive <br />Thousand Oaks CA 91360-4223 <br />Re • Annual Report Therapeutic Riding at Walnut Grove Equestrian Center <br />Dear Jim: <br />This report marks our first four years of service to the disabled community of the Conejo Valley. <br />Currently Ride On continues to serve approximately 60 disabled children and adults each week <br />and we have given a total of 6,871 (up from 4,750) lessons thru July 2005.75% of our riders are <br />children and the two biggest populations served are autism (35% of our riders) and cerebral palsy <br />(16%). According to our financial audit, over 82% of every dollar expended goes directly to <br />program. Ride On plans to continue expanding its program to serve 100 clients per week. <br />However the timing of this expansion is dependent on continued success in fundraising and <br />continued site development. <br />ProgrammingPrQgramming Accomplishments <br />Ride On remains the only nationally accredited therapeutic riding center in Ventura County. We <br />now have 8 certified riding instructors and four part-time Physical Therapists. All of our <br />instructors are certified by the national association, NARHA. Between our two ranches, Ride On <br />now serves 150 riders and gave 5,072 lessons last year. Volunteers donated over 14,077 hours of <br />service in support of Ride On. Ride On has grown to become one of the 15 largest therapeutic <br />riding centers in the United States. Attached is our Annual Report. <br />Programs in partnership with the CRPD Therapeutics Program and other community outreach <br />programs include: <br />• CRPD Day Camp for 10 disabled campers each week on four Wednesdays in Summer; <br />• Friendship Club for kids on the autism spectrum focused on social skills & rode <br />twice during their week <br />• A number of field trip visits to Ride On from Horizon Hills pre-school autistic group. <br />Port Hueneme High School developmentally delayed class, and several girl <br />A 501 (c)(3) non-profit corporation.
