Contract for Weed Abatement Services (CRPD, COSCA, City of Thousand Oaks
and Conejo Valley Unified School District) in the annual amount of $221,500
Hare reported that the first time the contract for weed abatement responsibilities was
shared was in 2012 with CRPD, COSCA, and the City of Thousand Oaks partnering
together. That contract is up for renewal, and this year the Conejo Valley Unified
School District was invited to participate in the process. Adding CVUSD brings the total
contract to nearly 18.5 million sq. feet. City staff handled the RFP process; eight
proposals were received and the top three were reviewed. Venco Western, the current
contractor, was determined to be the preferred proposer. CTO passed this
recommendation at their council meeting earlier this evening. It is a three-year contract
with one additional option year. Discussion ensued regarding benefitting homeowners
and a possible assessment levied on those property owners.
It was moved by Jones, seconded by Gibson, and carried 5-0 to authorize
General Manager to enter into a three-year contract with one additional option
year with Venco Western, Inc. for weed abatement services in the total annual
amount of $221,500; $66,525 for Conejo Open Space Conservation Agency
owned parcels; $51,337 for Conejo Recreation and Park District owned parcels;
$91,964 for the City of Thousand Oaks owned parcels; and $11,674 for Conejo
Valley Unified School District owned parcels.
Recreation Division Personnel Action
