GRATITUDE CIRCLE RECOGNITION PROGRAM
NOMINATION and SELECTION GUIDELINES
THE GRATITUDE CIRCLE
A CRPD Board program to recognize people who have made a significant contribution to recreation and
parks in the Conejo Valley by adding their names to the Gratitude Circle monument located in Conejo
Creek North Park. These Nomination and Selection Guidelines are intended to update and clarify the
nomination and selection process which first started in 2013.
NOMINATION CRITERIA
• Nominee must bean individual, couple or family (not an organization).
• Nominee must have been involved in service to the community for at least five years.
• Nominee should not be a currently elected or appointed public official or employee.
• Nominee should have directly or indirectly invested significant time, effort or energy to
improve park facilities or recreation programs which benefit Conejo Valley residents.
• Each Board member may have up to 3 nominees annually.
NOMINATION FORM
Each Board member may nominate up to three (3) individuals, couple(s) or family(ies) in the fall by
submitting the nominee's name along with a short description of the nominee's accomplishments and
contributions to recreation and parks in the Conejo Valley. Supporting material (such as newspaper
articles, resume or CV) is encouraged.
NOMINATION LIST
After receiving the nomination forms, staff will create a list of nominees. The list along with all submitted
supporting informational material about the nominees will be provided to the Board for their
consideration.
RANKING
Each Board Member shall rank four nominees, ranking them 1st (4 points), 2"d (3 points), 3'd (2 points)
and 4f" (1 point). An honoree must be ranked on at least three Board member ballots. The two nominees
with the highest point totals will be the Gratitude Circle honorees for that year. To become an honoree a
nominee must score at least 11 points.
Should no nominee reach 11 points (due to a large pool with diverse scoring), staff will provide a short
list of the highest scoring nominees to be re -considered and re -ranked by the Board.
Each spring, honorees will be recognized and have their names added to the list of other honorees at the
Gratitude Circle at Conejo Creek North Park.
