December 15, 2016 <br />Page 3 <br />Friedl referenced the sample nomination exercise the Board completed at the <br />beginning of the meeting and, with Hare's assistance, explained the current <br />Gratitude Circle scoring system. Discussion regarding possible changes ensued. <br />The importance of each nominee bearing descriptive information was emphasized. <br />Staff will take all the information presented this evening and come back to the <br />Board with a revised scoring system at the next Board meeting. <br />10. REPORTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS <br />A. Budget Performance Report — November 2016 <br />11. DEPARTMENT REPORTS <br />A. Parks Division Report <br />Hare referenced the water report recently distributed to Board members. Twenty- <br />six of twenty-nine turf conversion projects have been completed. About $270K of <br />grant money has been received; about $450K is left to be received. Northwood <br />Park, Rancho Conejo Playfield, and Triunfo Park are still to be completed vis-a-vis <br />turf conversions — these are combined park projects — Pickleball at Rancho Conejo, <br />Phase Three at Northwood and Reclaimed Water at Triunfo. Hare is currently <br />pursuing opportunities for additional turf conversion incentive monies from Cal <br />Water. The Thousand Oaks Soaring Society held a work day last Saturday at <br />Sapwi Trails Community Park. An RFP for weed abatement has been issued in <br />partnership with the City of Thousand Oaks and Conejo Valley Unified School <br />District; the contract with the current vendor expires in a few months. A meeting at <br />the Dog Park was held recently to advise users of the upcoming improvements; <br />staff hopes to minimize impact on park operations. Hare is currently working with <br />Aditya Festival Productions on a possible event to be held at Conejo Creek South <br />next fall; the plan is to have an agreement to bring to the Board in February for <br />consideration. There will be neighborhood meetings on January 9t" and 11th; a <br />notification letter regarding same will be going out to residents right after holiday the <br />break. <br />B. Recreation Division Report <br />Callis referenced Rec highlights. She reported there were articles recently in the <br />VC Star and The Acorn regarding the Safe Passages Jingle Bell Hike; it was a very <br />successful event. This Sunday from 4-7 pm there will be a Holiday Party at <br />Borchard Community Center for the Safe Passages tutoring participants. Goebel <br />Adult Community Center recently had a fabulous holiday lunch. The Senior <br />Nutrition Program is going well. The Teen Center just had a successful "Battle of <br />the Bands." A "History Comes Alive" program will be presented by Wyatt McCrea <br />
