There was discussion <br />about modifying the Statement of Philosophy. (See proposed change in italicslseeut <br />version below) <br />STATEMENT OF PHILOSOPHY <br />The Conejo Recreation and Park District is a public service agency created by the people <br />through the use of government structure for the purpose of providing recreation opportunities, <br />educating for the proper use of leisure time, and conserving the recreational resources of the <br />area. <br />As an arm of the government, a major responsibility shall be to serve as a catalyst for <br />community effort by employing the tools and powers of the district, promoting inter -agency <br />cooperation, and constructing and operating facilities which are beyond the reach of individual <br />or private organization effort. <br />The district will complement private or commercial recreation efforts and will conduct its <br />business in a manner which will flow in and around those efforts to provide the community and <br />the individual with a complete set of recreational opportunities. <br />The objective of the district shall be to provide recreation opportunities for alt residents of all <br />ages. The demographics now reflect a community with residents off all <br />ages with the fastest growing population segments in the over 55 age categories.
