Strategic Plan Update Attachment I March 28, 2013 No changes were proposed to the Mission or Vision of the District. There was discussion about modifying the Statement of Philosophy. (See proposed change in italicslseeut version below) STATEMENT OF PHILOSOPHY The Conejo Recreation and Park District is a public service agency created by the people through the use of government structure for the purpose of providing recreation opportunities, educating for the proper use of leisure time, and conserving the recreational resources of the area. As an arm of the government, a major responsibility shall be to serve as a catalyst for community effort by employing the tools and powers of the district, promoting inter -agency cooperation, and constructing and operating facilities which are beyond the reach of individual or private organization effort. The district will complement private or commercial recreation efforts and will conduct its business in a manner which will flow in and around those efforts to provide the community and the individual with a complete set of recreational opportunities. The objective of the district shall be to provide recreation opportunities for alt residents of all ages. The demographics now reflect a community with residents off all ages with the fastest growing population segments in the over 55 age categories.
