Holl, Director Chuck Huffer. Director GENERAL MANAGER EMERITUS Tex Ward Approve new job description for Pool Operator/Manager Aquatics (Range 41) and authorize staff to fill new position. DISCUSSION As discussed at a previous board meeting, the Aquatics Unit has experienced tremendous growth since the opening of the CLU Pool in 2009. This year the revenue for the Aquatics Unit will exceed $550,000. To continue to operate the pool at a high level of customer satisfaction and provide additional professional support to the program, staff is recommending another full time position be added to the unit. Staff researched other comparable pool operations in the area. We found that the cities of Santa Clarita and Burbank operate with a position that combines the maintenance and operation of the pool with pool manager duties which include customer service, administrative tasks, and scheduling, training and supervision of the lifeguards. This model seems to be the best fit for the needs of our operation. Currently, money is budgeted for a part-time pool operator and a part-time pool manager. The recommendation is to combine the existing budgeted money to create the new position. By having this position full time, it will create stability and provide the support to the supervisor to operate the unit. Currently, both part-time positions are vacant.
