APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF FEBRUARY 26, 2014 <br />Seerden asked for a motion to approve the minutes of the February meeting. <br />It was moved by Cleary, seconded by Smith to approve the minutes of <br />the February meeting. The minutes of the February meeting were <br />approved as presented. <br />5. OLD AND NEW BUSINESS <br />A. CSVP Fundraising/Financial Support of Program — Rick Tanaka <br />Seerden introduced Rick Tanaka, CSVP Director. <br />Tanaka gave a description of the CSVP program and an update of the <br />current status of the program. He said the program, established as RSVP in <br />1972, connects over 1,000 volunteers with sixty local non-profit/partner <br />organizations, as well as the numerous volunteers serving at Goebel Center. <br />He also noted the benefits of the program to the well-being of the volunteers <br />themselves. <br />Tanaka said in the past the program was partially funded by RSVP Federal <br />Grant funds but is currently operating without these grant funds. He <br />explained that adhering to newly implemented grant requirements would <br />have drastically restricted local volunteer opportunities. He said due to the <br />loss of the grant, CSVP needs to annually raise $58,000 to make up the <br />difference. <br />In response to Seerden, Tanaka said $58,000 equals one-third of the CSVP <br />operating budget. <br />Coleman noted that CRPD sponsors the program and is presently making <br />up the difference in funding. She named several fundraising efforts currently <br />being developed by CSVP staff and the fund-raising arm of the CSVP <br />Advisory Council.
