Between our two ranches, Ride On now serves
over 250 riders each week and volunteers donated over 14,000 hours of service in support of
Ride On. We have grown to become one of the top dozen or so largest therapeutic riding centers
in the United States.
In addition to nearly 3,100 lessons given at WGE, other programming highlights include:
• Partnered with CRPD Therapeutics for summer day camp one day each week
• Provided 2 weeks of day camp for children of all abilities;
• Provided six trainings to new volunteers educating the community in horse handling,
safety protocols and disability awareness.
• Provided service projects for Girl and Boy Scouts.
Provided a Veterans Program in partnership with Wounded Warriors.
• Took riders with disabilities to open horse shows in the community, competing against
typical riders.
• Ride On manages the CALNET State Championship horse show at the LA Equestrian
Center benefitting a dozen therapeutic riding centers, over 130 disabled riders including
20 riders from the Conejo Valley;
• Mounted demonstrations at the ETI Corral 37's "Day of the Horse"
• Each week over 90 volunteers help our riders, amounting to over 7,000 hours of
community service. These workshops teach new
professionals the skills needed to teach disabled riders and certify them to the standards
of the national association. In October, we will host a four-day workshop for PATH
International Instructor Certification and Testing.
• In January, Ride On convenes a free networking day for therapeutic riding
professionals — over 40 attended.
In January we take over 70 of our riders to Paramount Ranch for a trail ride at that
beautiful park and a family BBQ catered by the Kiwanis Club of Thousand Oaks.
Provided field trips for other nonprofits such as Children of the Night and for USG's
International Occupational Therapy Students.
Special Olympics World Games Equestrian Competition
Ride On was selected to manage the equestrian portion of the World Games. This involved 10
days of horse operations at the LA Equestrian Center where 123 athletes with intellectual
disabilities from 35 countries were matched to 85 horses from all over California and Arizona.
Ride On staff spent months recruiting the horses and built a team of 125 experienced volunteers
to ensure a safe, world-class competition for these extraordinary athletes.
Walnut Grove Capital Improvements
Going forward, we have also identified two capital improvement projects.
