It is
played on basketball -sized courts, both indoors and outdoors, without the use of sidewalls.
Futsal has gained rapid popularity throughout other nations and is beginning to grow swiftly in
the United States, with U.S. Futsal being founded in 1981 (www.futsal.com). The skills
developed from this fast moving game are easily transferable to the outdoors on the full-sized
field.
In the summer of 2014, LA Galaxy Conejo Valley Soccer Club (formerly Conejo Valley United
Soccer Club) approached the Conejo Recreation and Park District (CRPD) regarding a
location for the construction of a futsal court(s) on CRPD property. Unfortunately, no suitable
location was found; however, the CRPD contacted the Conejo Valley Unified School District
(CVUSD) regarding the potential conversion of existing tennis courts to futsal at Los Cerritos
Middle School.
After numerous meetings between staff, the CRPD and CVUSD have agreed to a Facilities
Use Agreement (attached). Highlights of the Agreement include:
403 West Hillcrest Drive I Thousand Oaks, CA 91360-4223
(805) 495-6471 FAX: (805) 497-3199 Email: parks@crpd.org
