November 5, 1997
Page 2
7. DEFERRED MATTERS
None
8. NEW ITEMS
A. Authorization To Complete Property Exchange Between District And St.
Patrick's Episcopal Church
Sorensen identified and discussed the two land parcels involved in the
property exchange requested by St. Patrick's Episcopal Church, and the
project conditions to be stipulated by the District. He said that at the
November 10 meeting with the Planning Department, the District will propose
additional conditions not identified in the submitted documentation; these
include landscape mitigation measures, and the stipulations that the property
transferred to St. Patrick's be designated permanent open space, and all
engineering costs be the responsibility of St. Patrick's. He noted the
presence of two representatives from St. Patrick's.
In response to Gillette's inquiry, Sorensen explained that the land is public
land, it is solely owned by the District, and it will be permanently conditioned
to remain open space.
In response to Lange's inquiry, Sorensen said that the District has never
been required by the Fire Department to perform weed abatement at the site
because much of the hillside has naturalized ice plant cover.
The representatives from St. Patrick's Church thanked Board members for
their consideration.
It was moved by Lange, seconded by Holt, and carred 5-0 to authorize
staff to execute all documents to complete the property exchange
between the District and St. Patrick's Episcopal Church, as identified in
the submitted documentation and the additional conditions and
information provided verbally.
