September 18 1997
Page 3
that Board members be kept informed, that they evaluate the results of the
process, and make decisions.
Holt expressed agreement with Ward.
In response to the inquiries and concerns of Sharon Noel and Jo Terrusa,
Ward, Jacobsen, and Gillette further clarified the community involvement
process, the property involved, and staff recommendation, and emphasized
that no design decisions have been presented or agreed upon, and
approximately ten community meetings will be scheduled to solicit community
input.
In response to Donna Ward's concerns and request for information,
Jacobsen and Ward again clarified the recommendation, the Request For
Proposal process, and the community involvement process, and stated that
Jacobsen and Lange were appointed to the Waverly Adult School Access
Issues Committee.
Jacobsen said a written statement card was received pertaining to Waverly
Park and the position set forth will be taken under evaluation at the
appropriate time. Gillette noted that if the writer chose, the writer could speak
under the Public Comments section of the agenda.
It was moved by Holt, seconded by Lange, and carried 4-0 to authorize
staff to enter into separate contracts with Takata Associates and the
RRM Design Group for Master Planning of Conejo Creek and the
McCrea Ranch, in amounts not to exceed $53,000 and $30,000
respectively.
Gillette requested future consideration be given to the issue of the amount of
Board participation during the community hearing process. Holt restated her
position, and said that the issue need not be considered in the future, unless
a concern arises. Ward said that schedules and relevant information will be
provided to the Board, and Board direction is always welcome.
In response to Terry Jacobi's inquiry, Jacobsen said that public meetings
will be well publicized and scheduled throughout the community. Gillette
suggested that all those wishing to be personally notified of meetings should
give their names to staff.
