July 10, 1997
Page 2
B. Warrants, Exhibits A - F, Total $458,231.09
It was moved by Gillette, seconded by Berger, and carried 5-0 to
approve the Consent Calendar as presented.
7. DEFERRED MATTERS
A. Public Hearing - Fiscal Year 1997-1998 Budget
1. Proposed 1997-1998 Revenue Budget
Jacobsen declared the public hearing open.
As no one was in attendance who wished to address the Board, the public
hearing was continued to July 24, 1997.
8. NEW ITEMS
A. Consideration Of Proposed Waverly Adult School Access Road
Ward presented an overview of the issue, and stated that the District
received a request to consider using a portion of Distract property in Conejo
Creek West to provide an alternate access route to Waverly Adult School.
Sorensen reviewed the request, two proposed routes, traffic volume and
speed issues, costs, concerns, and impact to the park site and existing Little
League field, and he said that on July 22 the City Council will hold a meeting
to discuss the issue.
Sorensen explained that the master planning process for the entire park site
is expected to begin in August and will involve interested homeowner
associations, civic, equestrian, and sports groups; and eight to twelve
community meetings and one to two public hearings are envisioned.
Terry Graves, of Thousand Oaks, stated his concern that further park
development would negatively impact equestrian use of the park site, and
said that, short of moving the school, he was in favor of the proposed shorter
Las Flores route versus a longer route, and cited concerns of cost, safety,
and impact to the park.
