June 26, 1997 <br />Page 3 <br />Nick Quidwai stated his appreciation for the opportunity to speak to the <br />Board, and said that he had no criticism of the budget. He was <br />complimentary of the budget's format and clarity, and said that volume and <br />detail do not necessarily ensure comprehensibility. He commended Jan <br />Robertson for her professional efforts. He identified the need for additional <br />recreation facilities in Newbury Park, and he requested information on the <br />future Dos Vientos facility. <br />Ward said that, due to past standards and current financial considerations, <br />the gymnasium in the Dos Vientos facility will be sized approximately the <br />same as Borchard Center. Sorensen said that the facility will include two <br />side courts, with four baskets, and one full size gymnasium. <br />Jacobsen briefly reviewed the budget process and time schedule. <br />The public hearing was continued to July 10, 1997 <br />8. NEW ITEMS <br />A. Approval Of Annual Agreement With The Conejo Valley Historical <br />Society <br />Ward stated that he met with the President of the Society and Museum <br />Director, the annual agreement has been approved by the Society, the <br />annual report will be presented within a few weeks, and he noted staff <br />recommendation. <br />In response to Lange's inquiry, Ward said that insurance, other than fire, is <br />the responsibility of the Society. Gillette said that the Society thoroughly <br />reviews insurance needs on an annual basis, and the Historical Society <br />Board voted to create an independent, fund raising foundation. In response <br />to Berger's inquiry regarding septic tank maintenance, Sorensen said staff <br />would explore options. <br />It was moved by Berger, seconded by Lange, and carried 5-0 to <br />authorize the General Manager to execute the submitted one-year <br />agreement with the Conejo Valley Historical Society for the period July <br />1, 1997 through June 30, 1998. <br />
