A Request By Thousand Oaks/Conejo Valley Chamber Of Commerce
To Conduct A "Taste Of The Conejo" And Fine Arts Festival At Conejo
Creek North -
Lindsey reviewed the Chamber of Commerce request for use of Conejo
Creek North for a festival. She said that the event was held two years ago at
Civic Arts Plaza, but a stable location that will facilitate long term growth is
preferred, the guidelines are similar to those of the Oktoberfest and the
Greek Festival, and no admission will be charged. She noted the presence
of Fred Berkhardt of the Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Berkhardt referenced the documentation and said that Conejo Creek
North is the premiere facility in the community, and it is hoped that it can be
the site of the event for years to come.
In response to Holt's concern, Lindsey said that the District's summer concert
scheduled for August 17 is not a major holiday concert, it does not begin until
5 p.m. and, therefore, a time conflict with the festival would be minimal.
Gillette said that he sees the two events as complimentary, and he is pleased
to see an opportunity for the District to support the activities of the Chamber
of Commerce.
It was moved by Gillette, seconded by Holt, and carred unanimously to
authorize staff to issue a permit and execute appropriate conditions and
fees for the Thousand Oaks/Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce to
conduct a "Taste of the Conejo" and Fine Arts Festival at Conejo Creek
North.
B. Authorization To Extend Leases On Three Parcels At Conejo Creek Park
And A Lease North Of Wildwood Park
Sorensen identified the three parcels, their locations, and rental fees, and
stated that the leases are two years' duration, the District is protected
through appropriate insurance coverage, and market analysis determined
that the rental fees of the three leases near Conejo Creek Park are
appropriate and the fee for the lease in the Santa Rosa Valley should be
increased from $690 to $759 per year.
