Ward said that the bylaws' process would be <br />approximately a 60 -day process, and Mr. Fiorita was informed of the historic <br />precedent when he applied. <br />Gillette said that Board members clearly indicated that, to the extent possible, <br />they do not want members of the same household serving simultaneously on <br />the Commission, and would, therefore, like a modification of the bylaws to <br />reflect that. Lange and Holt concurred. <br />It was moved by Holt and seconded by Lange, to amend the motion to <br />include the following: due to modifications in state law amending the <br />Brown Act, the bylaws be modified to reflect the Board's concern about <br />having more than one member of the same household serving <br />simultaneously on the Commission, the goal being to broaden <br />representation on the Commission, and that this be conveyed both <br />verbally and by letter. <br />The amended motion carried unanimously, 4-0. <br />B. Authorization To Award Contract For Districtwide Concrete Renovation <br />To Driveway Specialists, Inc. <br />Sorensen stated that $49,250 was allocated to replace concrete walkways <br />districtwide; one bid from Driveway Specialists was received in the amount of <br />$60,684 which included all alternates; staff recommends that a total of five <br />sites be replaced, with a cost of $49,535 plus a ten percent (10%) <br />contingency; funds are available to cover the overage; safety issues are <br />involved; and staff is very satisfied with the vendor and price. <br />It was moved by Gillette, seconded by Holt, and carried unanimously, 4- <br />0, to authorize the General Manager to award a contract in care of <br />Driveway Specialists, Inc. of Thousand Oaks in the amount of $49,535, <br />and a ten percent (10%) contingency amount of $4,954 for the <br />Districtwide concrete renovation work. <br />C. Authorization To Award Bid For Districtwide Weed Abatement To Pepo <br />Weed Abatement, Inc. <br />Sorensen stated that the weed abatement project covers a portion of COSCA <br />land, not District property, the bid would be for approximately $36,346, wide <br />interest in the project was generated through the Internet, and one bid was <br />received from Pepo. <br />
