CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />JANUARY 23, 1997 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />GOEBEL SENIOR ADULT CENTER <br />M I N U T E S <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Chair Jacobsen called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m., and <br />led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Berger, Gillette, Holt, Jacobsen, and <br />Lange <br />Directors Absent: None <br />Staff Present: General Manager Ward, Administrators Jorgensen <br />and Sorensen, Senior Park Planner Gilmore, Recreation Manager <br />Wiley, and Executive Secretary Ohren <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />RSVP Adopt A School Project Louise Danielle <br />Wiley introduced Danielle, who presented an overview of RSVP's <br />impact in the community and, specifically, the Adopt A School <br />Project, displayed examples of the children's correspondence <br />regarding the project, and introduced Leean Nemeroff, <br />principal of Park Oaks Elementary School. <br />Nemeroff praised the program's impact on the children, <br />specifically citing the inter -generational connection, <br />positive role modeling, and nurturing. <br />RSVP volunteer Storlene Stewart spoke of the gratification she <br />receives from being part of the program. <br />Board members and Jacobsen expressed appreciation for the <br />opportunity to learn about the project. <br />4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />Pamela Barlow asked if any new park sites are being considered <br />as potential locations for leash free areas, and urged advance <br />planning for such facilities. <br />
