He stated his support for the
focus group and its recommendations, and said that facilities allocation
should be correlated to maximum community involvement.
Lynn LaBonte stated her appreciation for the efforts of the focus group and
the Board's willingness to listen. She urged further development of the site
for equestrian usage, and said that she trains horses for a living and uses
the Waverly area daily, she does not support the pond and access road,
and the bark and park and garden facilities should be located at the far end
of the site.
Monica Rollins urged that the entire equestrian facility be preserved, and
stated her support for the least amount of site development.
Donna Ward stated her opposition to the proposed access road off Janss,
and the pond. She urged that the entire site be used as an equestrian
facility, and said that planting trees would make policing of the site
problematic.
Marilee Ullmand said that the community wants the site left as it is, and it
would be an economical, natural approach.
Sandra Clayton, representing AYSO and a member of the focus group,
said that the focus group is interested in community input, and appreciates
the efforts of all involved, and she noted that, currently, funding does not
exist to develop the site.
Jo Terrusa, thanked all for their participation, and said that an assisted
living facility is not an appropriate use of the land. She expressed concern
about the safety of the proposed access road, urged that the equestrian site
be dedicated to equestrian use, and thanked the Board for its willingness to
listen.
Sal Terrusa, congratulated the focus group, thanked the Board for
listening, and said he agrees with previous speakers, the pristine nature of
the site should be maintained, and site development would result in a loss
of wild life, quietude, and wild flowers. He said that the skating facility
should be located near the Teen Center, and the area near Las Flores
should be considered for the bark and park and gardening sites. He
expressed concern for the safety of children near Paige Lane, and
proposed that the road be realigned.
Chip Lewis said that locating the bark and park and gardening facilities
next to a children's area would not be appropriate. He said that more
soccer fields are needed to accommodate all the children who want to
participate, and it is advantageous to have many soccer fields in one
location.
