September 3, 1998 <br />Page 3 <br />Gillette thanked Sorensen for his efforts on disposing of current vehicles. <br />He went on to say that in future purchases, emission requirements should <br />be considered as well as the age of the vehicles. <br />It was moved by Berger, seconded by Lange, and carried 4-0 To <br />Award The Bid For Stake Bed Truck, Utility Bed Truck, and 4x4 Pickup <br />to Paradise Chevrolet <br />C. Review, Amend If Necessary, And Approve MOU (Memorandum Of <br />Understanding) Between AYSO (American Youth Soccer Organization) <br />Region 42 And The District <br />Sorensen read a letter received from "SO Region 42, representative <br />Wayne Behrend. The letter thanked the District for its role in the many <br />improvements made at Pepper Tree Fields in Newbury Park. He went on to <br />say that there were two main reasons for the MOU: 1.) To define <br />ownership of the improvements and 2.) to get a commitment for the <br />neighbors surrounding the immediate area that the soccer fields would not <br />be used on Sundays. <br />Charlene Mimi and Mrs. Schulz were contacted regarding restricting use of <br />the soccer fields on Sundays via signage. It was agreed that a fence could <br />be erected at a later time, if the signage did not work. The neighbors <br />seemed comfortable with this arrangement. <br />Wayne Behrend, 781 Calle las Colinas, Newbury Park, approached the <br />podium and stated he wanted to thank the District for all their efforts in this <br />project. He went on to say that not only was the appearance of the park <br />nicer, but it also increased the park's usefulness to the community. He <br />mentioned that September 12, 1998 will be opening day at 9:30 a.m. and <br />invited the Board to attend the festivities. <br />Lange thanked Behrend for the cooperation between AYSO and the <br />District. <br />Gillette asked about the parking situation across Newbury Road and <br />commented that immediate follow-up needs to take place should complaints <br />occur. Behrend stated that he has the support of local businesses, as well <br />as a good relationship with the neighbors surrounding the area. <br />Additionally, Behrend said a security guard is brought in on Saturdays to <br />
