August 6, 1998
Page 4
D. General Manager's Report
Ward noted correspondence identifying those who have pulled and/or filed
papers for the election of the office of Director of CRPD, and he suggested
that the August meeting schedule be evaluated. He said that District staff
and City of Thousand Oaks personnel have met to discuss signage at
Conejo Creek North and the library. He noted that a state budget
agreement has been announced, but the agreement does not contain any
ERAF (Educational Revenue Augmentation Fund) relief.
E. Directors' Reports
Lange stated that the election of Special District Representatives to Ventura
LAFCO (Local Area Formation Commission) is being conducted by mail
and all ballots must be submitted by September 1. He displayed copies of
the latest VCSDA (Ventura County Special Districts Association) flier and
brochure, and he said the goal of the publications is to educate the public
on the benefits of special districts.
At Gillette's suggestion, Ward agreed that it would be appropriate for the
Legislative Committee of CARPD (California Association of Recreation and
Park Districts) to seek to determine the position of gubernatorial candidates
on financial matters affecting special districts and local governments.
12. REQUEST FOR STATUS REPORTS AND ITEMS FOR SUBSEQUENT
AGENDAS
13. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC
14. EXECUTIVE (CLOSED) SESSION
15. ADJOURNMENT
Gillette suggested that the August 20 meeting be canceled. Holt noted that she
and Jacobsen would not be available for the meeting.
It was moved by Berger, seconded by Gillette, and carried 5-0 to cancel the
August 20 meeting.
Lange adjourned the meeting at 8:40 p.m. in memory of William E. Beaubien.
Date: Approved by: ;Z:f —
George M. Lan
