July 23, 1998
Page 2
7. DEFERRED MATTERS
B. Approval Of Memorandum Of Understanding Between District And
Conejo Valley Little League, Inc. For Fiore Playfiel d Restroom/
Concession Building Development
Sorensen stated that on August 21, 1997 the Board conceptually approved
the Conejo Valley Little League proposal for the development of a restroom
facility with snack shack at Fiore Playfields, a development permit
modification has been approved by the City, a building permit has been
acquired, construction plans are now complete, Little League has
committed to fund the capital cost of the development, sewer connection,
ADA mandated modifications, and ongoing M & O costs. He said that the
District will continue to fund the electrical and water costs. Concluding, he
said that Joe Gibson and Greg White of Little League were present to
answer questions.
In response to Gillette's inquiry, Gibson said that the sewer connection fee
was discounted to $9,300. In response to Board inquiries, Sorensen
explained that the sewer fee policy is consistent and states that fees are to
be based on the number of months of expected use, site usage will not be
impacted by power lines, he expects that Little League will approach the
District with a request for additional use of the site beyond the regular
season, the police have reviewed the design, made modifications, and are
satisfied with the final plan, a discount for monthly sewer fees is not
expected, and the restrooms will only be open during field use.
It was moved by Gillette, seconded by Holt, and carried 5-0 to approve
the submitted MOU between the District and Conejo Valley Little
League, Inc., with respect to the improvements approved at the
August 21, 1997 Board of Directors meeting.
Lange said he was pleased with the cooperative venture between the
District and Little League that facilitates services to the youth of the
community, and he thanked the organization for its efforts.
A.
