Approval To Add The Fence Installation Project At Fiore Playfield In The <br />Amount of $71000 To The 2000-01 Capital Improvement Projects Budget <br />Pluth identified and discussed the flood control drainage channel, safety <br />concerns, and geographic features of the parcel. He said that the drainage <br />channel handles both nuisance water and peak flows during storms, <br />overriding the banks and the bridges, and staff recommends that a four -foot <br />chain link fence be placed along both sides of the channel in order to <br />minimize access to the channel. <br />In response to Board inquiries, Pluth discussed safety concerns, and said <br />that the fence will conform to District standards, the drainage channel will not <br />be modified at this time, staff will seek to continue to be involved in future <br />discussions with Caltrans regarding issues affecting the site, such as freeway <br />expansion, and it is expected that the project will begin immediately. <br />It was moved by Lange, seconded by Holt, and carried 5-0 to approve <br />the addition of the fence installation project at Fiore Playfield in the <br />amount of $7,000 to the 2000-01 Capital Improvement Projects Budget, <br />funds coming from available Park Dedication Fee revenues. <br />D. Approval To Award The Bid For Reconstruction Of Crowley House Patio <br />To CC & T Construction, Inc. In The Amount Of $31,500 <br />Pluth described the needed repairs, and noted that because the lowest <br />informal bid received was $33,943, a formal bid process was initiated; bids <br />were opened on December 12, and CCU Construction, Inc., of Camarillo <br />was the low bidder at $31,500; staff is comfortable that the bid is competitive; <br />and contractor references were positive. <br />In response to Board inquiries, Pluth reviewed the bid process and said that <br />the project will recreate the existing patio, and ADA concerns will be <br />addressed. Ward stated that currently the City Council determines cultural <br />heritage and landmark status issues, and he discussed the heritage of the <br />Crowley House. Lange noted that such landmark and heritage designations <br />can have financial ramifications. <br />
