Status Report — 2000-2001 Capital Improvement Projects <br />Sorensen stated that staff regularly provides a status report on capital <br />improvement projects, and he highlighted completed projects, projects in <br />process, projects on hold, and projects to be scheduled as follows: <br />Rancho Conejo Playfield: Staff is not satisfied with the establishment of <br />turf, it is estimated that another 60 days will be necessary before the site can <br />be opened to the public, and a plan will shortly be implemented for resolution <br />of restroom ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) issues. <br />Conejo Creek Northwest Quadrant: The improvements include the <br />community garden, dog park, and equestrian arena. Lighting to the arena is <br />well underway, an automatic watering system has been designed, and it is <br />anticipated that park opening will be in approximately four months. In order <br />to alleviate concerns expressed by some equestrians over the use of asphalt <br />fines in an area where horse trailers might unload, ETI will "test" the material, <br />and if found unsatisfactory it will be replaced with decomposed granite. <br />Kimber Park: All construction contracts have been signed, and a 90 -day <br />construction and a 90 -day grow -in period is anticipated. <br />Dos Vientos Community Park: Bid documents will be circulated beginning <br />in January, the 27 -acre site will include a full gymnasium and community <br />center, tennis, basketball, and volleyball courts, five sports fields, parking lot <br />and accessible play areas. <br />The Borchard Parking Lot and Skateboard Park Project is progressing, <br />and the grand opening of Old Meadows Neighborhood Park play area is <br />scheduled for September 30. <br />Construction at the McCrea Ranch House is expected to begin October 16 <br />on the seismic retrofit and roof replacement, and rehabilitation and <br />replacement of District bleachers will begin September 18 at Borchard, <br />Waverly, Pepper Tree and Conejo Creek. <br />Sorensen answered questions, and said that staff is working on <br />approximately 20 more minor projects, and, relative to Oakbrook Park <br />Master Planning, the second planning meeting with the focus group was <br />held on September 18, a community workshop is scheduled for October 23 <br />
