June 22, 2000 <br />Page 3 <br />Sorensen presented an overview of the District Master Plan and Capital <br />Improvement Projects. He identified and discussed new major acquisitions, <br />new trail development, and new park facilities including 74 -acres west of the <br />YMCA, a 4.6 -acre parcel on Mount Clef Ridge, 119 -acres in the Rosewood <br />Tract in Ventu Park, 495 -acres of the Hill Canyon parcel, a new trail section <br />of the Conejo Valley Ring Trail through the Woodridge tract; the 15 -acre <br />equestrian center adjacent to Walnut Grove Park, and eight -acres of park <br />land at the Rancho Conejo Playfield. <br />He discussed Capital Improvement Projects, including new, carryover, and <br />proposed projects, and explained the priority system used in ranking these <br />projects. He noted six priority "B" projects that are recommended for priority <br />"B+H status in the 2000-2001 Budget, including the Northwood Playfield <br />Master Plan. He discussed several carryover projects including Oakbrook <br />Neighborhood Park, Kimber Park, and FEMA projects totaling $300,000. <br />He discussed relevant concerns, demographics, community input, projected <br />schedules, funding options, including possible grants for the McCrea project, <br />and potential partnership agreements, such as the Thousand Oaks Little <br />League relative to the Lang Ranch Community Park site. <br />Dick Dewar stated his support for the continued development of the dog park <br />and the development of the Northwood Park. <br />In response to Lange's inquiry, Sorensen stated that there is a total of 14,000 <br />acres of open space and 90 miles of trails, and he said that additional <br />projects may be added to the CIP list in July, including construction drawings <br />for the McCrea project and remote control lighting timers for sports facilities. <br />Chuck Huffer, AYSO, Region 9, spoke in support of implementation of the <br />Conejo Creek, Southeast Quadrant, Master Plan, urged creation of working <br />drawings, and noted recent fund raising efforts. <br />Kevin Mund, Conejo Valley Little League, spoke of fund raising efforts, <br />presented drawings for the proposed baseball facility at Conejo Creek, and <br />spoke of the community need for a regulation size baseball field. <br />Mark Wilkinson, Thousand Oaks Little League, spoke in support of the <br />development of the Lang Ranch Park site. <br />
