DEFERRED MATTERS
A. Resolution No. 092001 A — Authorization to Revise Dog Park Rules and
Regulations in District Ordinance Manual
Sorensen reported that the Board approved dog park ordinances earlier this
year, however, California Food and Agriculture code does not allow for
restriction of dogs by breed. To conform to California law, the rule indicating
that no pit bulls are allowed was removed, language describing aggressive
dogs has been better -defined, and language added that owners should be in
"voice command" of their dogs.
Directors Lange and Jacobsen asked questions regarding leashes, rules,
and conditions of grounds, which were answered by Sorensen. Chairman
Gibson asked about lighting after the end of Daylight Savings Time.
Sorensen indicated Master Plan process agreement was not to install
lighting. Gibson and Jacobsen asked that lighting be investigated.
Judy Hare of Thousand Oaks (original member of Park and Bark) praised the
dog park, but concerned with 1) exclusion of pit bulls, and 2) small children in
park, some barefoot. Gibson noted that Hare was not there when Sorensen
indicated that pit bull rule would be removed. Director Holt gave copy of new
rules to Hare.
It was moved by Director Jacobsen, seconded by Director Lange, and
approved 4-0 to adopt changes to dog park rules.
8.
