CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />AUGUST 2, 2001 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />GOEBEL SENIOR ADULT CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Chair Gibson called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m., and Benton led the flag <br />salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Berger, Gibson, Holt, Jacobsen, and Lange <br />Directors Absent: None <br />Staff Present: General Manager Ward, Administrators Benton, Jorgensen, and <br />Sorensen, and Executive Secretary Ohren <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />Robert Radnoti, Coach, Thousand Oaks High School, spoke in support of the <br />Cross Country Team's continued use of Conejo Creek Park Northwest, and said that <br />the site has been used for many years by the team, it is an important part of the <br />successful leadership training program, and the program's impact on the site is <br />minor. <br />In response to Holt's inquiry, Radnoti said that Waverly is an ideal site because of <br />its tradition, facilities, proximity to the school, and the good visibility it offers to <br />spectators. <br />Gibson said that staff has been asked to evaluate the issue and report back to the <br />Board. <br />Chuck Huffer, Thousand Oaks, said he supports Radnoti's position. <br />Representing AYSO (American Youth Soccer Organization), Region'.:9, Huffer <br />thanked the Board for its support of the resolution to jointly apply for a United States <br />Soccer Foundation (USSF) grant for the improvement of soccer facilities at Conejo <br />Creek South, he thanked staff members for their rehabilitation work on Conejo Creek <br />
