March 8, 2001
Page 3
8. NEW ITEMS
B. Approval To Name New Baseball Field "Amgen Field At Conejo Creek
South"
Holt recommended, and Gibson concurred, that the proposed name of the
field be limited to "Amgen Field".
Joe Turgeon, Director of Sales of Amgen and representative of Little
League, stated that the field is sorely needed, and Amgen has agreed to
provide a grant of $50,000 for the construction of the field, and has requested
that the field be named "Amgen Field".
Steve Hensen, member of Little League Board of Directors, said that his
organization supports the project, the location is good, the field is needed,
and stated his approval of the recommendation.
Roger Lazar, of Little League, noted the need for the field to serve the
targeted age group, and spoke in support of the recommendation.
Gibson said that he would abstain from voting, because of his position as
President of the Conejo Valley Little League Board of Directors.
It was moved by Holt, seconded by Lange, and carred 3-0, with Gibson
abstaining, to name the new baseball field at Conejo Creek Park South
"Amgen Field". The name may be indicated at the field appropriately in
conjunction with CRPD signage standards, all signage must be
approved by CRPD, and the name will only be displayed at the field and
not on any other signage at the park.
8. A. Adoption Of Resolution Number 030801-A, A Resolution To Establish
District Ordinance Related To Skating Activities On District Property
Sorensen stated that in order for the skate park to be covered by the
conditional immunity of A131296, the District must adopt an ordinance
requiring users to use protective gear or face citation, and post appropriate
signage. He said he was available for questions.
Jacobsen said that maintenance and hazardous conditions resulting from
food, beverages, and associated litter have been identified and reported at
other skate parks, and urged that food and beverages not be permitted in the
facility.
