CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING MARCH 8, 2001 7:30 P.M. GOEBEL SENIOR ADULT CENTER MINUTES 1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE Chair Gibson called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m., and Ward led the flag salute. 2. ROLL CALL Directors Present: Gibson, Holt, Jacobsen, and Lange Jacobsen arrived at 7:35 p.m. Directors Absent: Berger Staff Present: General Manager Ward, Administrators Benton, Jorgensen, and Sorensen, Senior Park Development Planner Pluth, Recreation Services Manager Wiley, RSVP Director Danielle, and Executive Secretary Ohren 3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS Bill Buratto, representing Save Our Parks and Open Space (SOPOS), presented a committee update. He stated that, with a goal of $20,000, approximately $19,000 has been raised; the 340 endorsements represent a diverse cross section of the community; he will be interviewed on KCLU and the program will air Monday, March 12 at 6:30 and 8:30 a.m.; a successful door hanger effort has been conducted; two donated sites were secured for the phone bank campaign; 1,000 lawn signs and several larger signs have been erected; and numerous presentations to citizens groups have been made. On behalf of the Board, Holt commended and thanked Buratto and the other volunteers for their efforts on behalf of the District. Greater Telecommunity Center Of Thousand Oaks — RSVP — Louise Danielle Danielle thanked the District for its support of the RSVP program, and presented an overview of last year's accomplishments. She said that 1,300 volunteers were placed in the community, 238 were 80 years of age or older, and volunteers delivered 20,000 meal on wheels, distributed 42,000 bags of food through Manna, made and donated 1,400 items to 21 nonprofit agencies during the Christmas holiday, tutored 4,000 hours at local schools; taught classes at the Goebel Senior
