CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />MARCH 8, 2001 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />GOEBEL SENIOR ADULT CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Chair Gibson called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m., and Ward led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Gibson, Holt, Jacobsen, and Lange <br />Jacobsen arrived at 7:35 p.m. <br />Directors Absent: Berger <br />Staff Present: General Manager Ward, Administrators Benton, Jorgensen, and <br />Sorensen, Senior Park Development Planner Pluth, Recreation Services Manager <br />Wiley, RSVP Director Danielle, and Executive Secretary Ohren <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />Bill Buratto, representing Save Our Parks and Open Space (SOPOS), presented a <br />committee update. He stated that, with a goal of $20,000, approximately $19,000 <br />has been raised; the 340 endorsements represent a diverse cross section of the <br />community; he will be interviewed on KCLU and the program will air Monday, March <br />12 at 6:30 and 8:30 a.m.; a successful door hanger effort has been conducted; two <br />donated sites were secured for the phone bank campaign; 1,000 lawn signs and <br />several larger signs have been erected; and numerous presentations to citizens <br />groups have been made. <br />On behalf of the Board, Holt commended and thanked Buratto and the other <br />volunteers for their efforts on behalf of the District. <br />Greater Telecommunity Center Of Thousand Oaks — RSVP — Louise Danielle <br />Danielle thanked the District for its support of the RSVP program, and presented an <br />overview of last year's accomplishments. She said that 1,300 volunteers were <br />placed in the community, 238 were 80 years of age or older, and volunteers <br />delivered 20,000 meal on wheels, distributed 42,000 bags of food through Manna, <br />made and donated 1,400 items to 21 nonprofit agencies during the Christmas <br />holiday, tutored 4,000 hours at local schools; taught classes at the Goebel Senior <br />
