CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 26, 2002 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Chair Jacobsen called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m. and led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Gibson, Holt, Jacobsen, and Lange <br />Directors Absent: Berger <br />Staff Present: General Manager Ward, Administrators Scott and Sorensen, Senior Park <br />Planner Pluth, Recreation Supervisor Buchanan, and Executive Secretary Ohren <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />Chuck Huffer, Thousand Oaks resident and representative of AY50 (American Youth <br />Soccer Organization), Region 9, thanked all the directors for attending the opening day <br />celebration at Conejo Creek South, and congratulated the District on the grand opening <br />of Hillcrest Center. <br />Huffer said he and AYSO are disappointed and trustratea at the lack of progress of <br />Conejo Creek South development. He noted the successful partnership of AYSO and <br />the District, AYSO's good custodianship of the site, consistent support of the District, <br />approval of the Master Plan three years ago, and the extensive use of the site. He said <br />Mr. Ravi Ghate of the CalTrans/Department of Transportation indicated that freeway <br />23 is to be widened along the median strip and thus will not impact the site, and he <br />asked that AYSO be treated like a partner. <br />Sorensen said that staff considers AYSO a partner, and model community organization. <br />He said that at a recent meeting, District staff was informed that Cal Trans is widening <br />the freeway on the east side, thus necessitating onsite tree removal and a change in the <br />plans relative to the parking lot. He said that a letter has been sent to Cal Trans <br />requesting a copy of the plans, to clarify the issue. <br />
