September 12, 2002 <br />Page 3 <br />8. NEW ITEMS <br />D. Approval To Execute Annual Lease Renewal With Ride On Therapeutic <br />Horsemanship <br />Pluth introduced Bryan McQueeney, Executive Director of Ride On. <br />McQueeney thanked the District, and said it was a pleasure to work with the <br />District. He highlighted recent accomplishments and said that service has <br />been provided to disabled riders, volunteers have been trained, summer <br />camps have been conducted, there is a growing relationship with the <br />community, and he looks forward to expanding the program. He identified <br />facility improvements, including a round arena and trails, and said that a <br />long-term lease has been critical to the program's success. He noted the <br />independent auditor's report. <br />In response to Lange's inquiry, McQueeney said that the benefits of the local <br />program have spilled over to the San Fernando Valley location, and Pluth <br />said that the insurance is appropriate, and water costs are minimal. <br />Berger commended McQueeney on the positive impact the program is having <br />in the community. Jacobsen commended McQueeney on the low <br />administration costs of the program. <br />It was moved by Gibson, seconded by Lange, and carried 5-0 to <br />authorize staff to execute the annual lease renewal with Ride On <br />Therapeutic Horsemanship for $40 per year. <br />A. Election Of Representative To CSDA (California Special Districts <br />Association) Board Of Directors <br />Ward referenced the documentation, and noted this is an annual process. <br />Lange nominated Acosta. Berger closed the nominations. <br />It was unanimously agreed to nominate James Acosta of Saticoy <br />Sanitary District as a representative (Seat C, Region 5, term ending in <br />2005) to the CSDA Board of Directors. <br />B.
