CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT
BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING
APRIL 11, 2002
7:30 P.M.
GOEBEL SENIOR ADULT CENTER
MINUTES
1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE
Chair Jacobsen called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m. and led the flag salute.
2. ROLL CALL
Directors Present: Berger, Holt, Jacobsen, and Lange
Directors Absent: Gibson
Staff Present: General Manager Ward, Administrators Jorgensen, Sorensen and
Scott, and Executive Secretary Ohren
3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS
4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC
Clay Hulett, representing the Conejo Valley Activities Corporation, distributed event
memorabilia to the Board, thanked the Board for its cooperation, and said a very
successful event is anticipated.
On behalf of the Board, Jacobsen thanked Hulett and wished the group well.
Barbara Kloster distributed documentation to the Board, and said she was
disappointed to learn that the Waverly site is not a designated, dedicated,
permanent equestrian area, but only a predominantly equestrian area. She said that
the equestrian area has been further compromised, and Jim Rochford, although not
in attendance, is in agreement.
Gina Smurthwaite said she supports much of Kloster's comments, expressed
disappointment that the Waverly site has been identified as a multiuse area,
pledged her willingness to work with staff to identify and establish a designated
equestrian area, and stated her concern relative to the unresolved disagreement
involving land usage in the Dos Vientos area, originally designated open space and
now being considered for homes.
