November 20, 2003 <br />Page 7 <br />Gibson encouraged staff to investigate opportunities to submit applications <br />for awards from organizations such as CARPD (California Association of <br />Recreation and Park Districts), CPRS (California Parks and Recreation <br />Society) and CSDA (California Special Districts Association), and cited <br />examples of District efforts worthy of honor. <br />Jacobsen noted the District was a finalist two consecutive years for the <br />National Recreational and Park Association (NRPA) Gold Medal Award, a <br />national honor, and he noted the considerable impact on staff time. Benton <br />said that staff is working diligently submitting applications to both local and <br />state organizations. <br />Lange stated that Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area <br />celebrated its 25th anniversary November 14. <br />12.
