November 20, 2003 <br />Page 5 <br />Gibson suggested that a risk management plan should be formalized. <br />Jacobsen stated that he was comfortable with the way the insurance <br />program has been managed. Board members thanked Jorgenson for the <br />comprehensive report. <br />10. REPORTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS <br />A. Budget Performance Report — October 2003 — No Comment <br />B. Activity Summary <br />Jacobsen stated his appreciation of the fact that the District has a minimal <br />number of tax supported activities. <br />In response to Jacobsen's inquiries, Benton explained that the increased <br />attendance at the skateboard park at Borchard Community Park is due, in <br />part, to a skateboard instructor, a new specialist, classes, and special <br />events. She said that the use of proper gear by older skateboarders <br />continues to be problematic, and an hourly monitoring system by staff has <br />been instituted. <br />11. DEPARTMENT REPORTS <br />A. Park Division Report <br />Sorensen reported that, relative to the skateboard park, one of the <br />problematic skateboarders has recently been arrested. <br />He thanked Marchesano and staff for enhancing the natural beauty of <br />Conejo Community Park, and Pluth for his innovative solution to the <br />drainage problem in the Conejo Creek South area. He said that staff is <br />investigating the relocation of parking during Conejo Valley Days to Conejo <br />Creek Northwest, due to the improvements at Conejo Creek South. <br />In response to Jacobsen's inquiries, staff explained that it is expected that <br />the Chumash Interpretative Center Agreement will be brought to the Board <br />in about six weeks; environmental documents are currently being prepared <br />for the Lang Ranch Community Park, and will be part of the Master Plan <br />process; and relative to the Lang Ranch Dam, January or February is the <br />
