CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />OCTOBER 16, 2003 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Chair Lange called the meeting to order at 7:32 p.m., and Wiley led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Berger, Gibson, Holt, Jacobsen, and Lange <br />Directors Absent: None <br />Staff Present: Assistant General Manager/Administrator Sorensen, Administrator <br />Jorgensen, Recreation Services Manager Wiley, Park Superintendent <br />Marchesano, and Executive Secretary Ohren <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />Paul Kranz, Thousand Oaks, stated his appreciation for the dog park. He <br />expressed concern about incomplete representation on the dog park committee, <br />and inadequate education and enforcement of dog park rules. <br />Tani Charltan, Thousand Oaks, asked when lights would be installed in the dog <br />park. She said lighting was very much needed. <br />Jackie Colleran, Thousand Oaks, thanked the Board for the dog park, expressed <br />concern about the number of large dogs in the small dog area, and said lights <br />would be a welcomed safety feature. <br />Susan Shotsky, Thousand Oaks, said that small dog criteria should be enforced, <br />and lights are needed. She presented to the Board a petition protesting the <br />attempt of the dog park committee to change the 30 pound and under rule for the <br />small dog area. <br />Sharon Shapiro, Thousand Oaks, expressed appreciation for the dog park and its <br />amenities, and expressed concern about the lack of lights, large holes in the <br />ground, and the need for a shady area. <br />
