DEPARTMENT REPORTS <br />A. Park Division Report <br />Sorensen reported that, due to financial problems of the builder, the surety <br />company has taken over and the Lang Ranch Dam project has slowed. <br />Relative to the Lang Ranch Community Park Master Plan, he said that the <br />last communitywide meeting is scheduled for September 30, one or more <br />focus group meetings may follow, and it is expected that the Master Plan <br />will be presented for Board consideration the first meeting in November. <br />Continuing, Sorensen said that he expected the McCrea project <br />development permit, including road improvements, to be filed with the City <br />within a few weeks. <br />Gibson requested that the September 30 communitywide Lang Ranch <br />meeting be referred to as the last scheduled meeting, not the final meeting. <br />Sorensen said that although a roller hockey rink is planned, it has never <br />been District intent to "put as many lights, ball fields, and skating rinks as <br />possible on that property." Sorensen reviewed the master plan and <br />development processes, and noted the many opportunities for the public to <br />be involved. He said that a flow chart of the process will be included in the <br />Board presentation. <br />Relative to the operation of the Chumash Interpretative Center, Sorensen <br />said that two proposals and two letters have been received, one letter from <br />a local Native American group offering to serve in an advisory capacity, and <br />it is expected that a recommendation will be brought to the Board for <br />consideration in November. <br />B. Recreation Division Report <br />Scott reported that fall programs began on September 15; after school <br />programs, conducted from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday during <br />the school year, have begun at Sycamore School, Redwood Middle School, <br />
