Authorization To Execute Contract With Burns Pacific Construction, <br />Inc. For Old Meadows Park Stream Bank Restoration And <br />Shenandoah Bridge Abutment Protection <br />Sorensen discussed the stream bank restoration at Old Meadows Park and <br />bridge abutment protection of Shenandoah Bridge at Wildwood <br />Neighborhood Park. He reviewed the bid process and results. He said that <br />seven bid sets were distributed for the storm damage repairs; Burns Pacific <br />Construction, Inc. of Thousand Oaks, and T.A. Staben, Inc of Somis, both <br />qualifying engineering construction firms, submitted bids; Burns Pacific was <br />the low bidder at $248,000, with Staben at $342,000. He modified the <br />recommendation by adding a 10 percent contingency of $24,800, and noted <br />that the project is still under budget. <br />In response to Gibson's inquiry, Sorensen said that staff feels satisfied with <br />the bid, and Burns Pacific has extensive experience in such projects. <br />It was moved by Jacobsen, seconded by Berger, and carried 5-0 to <br />authorize the General Manager to execute a contract with Burns <br />Pacific Construction, Inc. to restore a portion of the stream bank at <br />Old Meadows Park and repair the revetment system and bridge <br />abutments at Shenandoah Bridge; funds available from account #13- <br />899-811-89001-000, project #91-99 and #70-99. <br />D. Authorization Of Three Additional Agreements Between American Red <br />Cross And District <br />Marchesano presented background information, relative to the 1998 <br />agreement with the American Red Cross that provides for use by the Red <br />Cross of recreation centers at Borchard and Thousand Oaks Community <br />Parks, and Thousand Oaks Teen Center in the event of a catastrophic <br />occurrence. He also provided information on Red Cross services. He said <br />that the Red Cross desires to expand the agreement to include Conejo <br />Community Center, Dos Vientos and Old Meadows Community Parks, to <br />
