Fifty -Year
Land Lease Agreement was signed in 1978 not 1980. Agreement allows for
two twenty-four year extensions at the option of the City of Thousand Oaks.
Section 7-A of the Agreement allows for an increase in the footprint of the
library with approval of the Board. The City of Thousand Oaks is currently in
the Design Development phase of the project.
In response to Gibson's inquiry, Sorensen clarified map specifics, and
orientation.
Sorensen referred question regarding location for Artifacts from Radio group to
Ward, who reported the Library Foundation has indicated they are considering
a variety of spots. Location of Children's Services addition was part of original
library plan with only a slight variation. Ward also responded to Gibson's
concern regarding Oak Tree impact and confirmed an atrium in area of
proposed addition.
In response to Holt's inquiry, Ward confirmed area on map as new parking.
Possible entrance on Janss Road to access proposed Children's Area.
In response to Jacobsen's inquiry regarding design, and if it is to be similar to
original structure, Ward responded, same basic concepts plan to be followed,
although the last Foundation proposal he had seen indicated a more
dominating structure. Response to Jacobsen's concern regarding traffic, Ward
responded that the City plans to install a traffic signal at the Paige Lane entry of
the Park. Jacobsen also expressed concern regarding areas of open space
with adding parking.
Ward responded to Lange's inquiry regarding Pioneer Radio Wing proposal of
utilizing southeast area that it interfered with the previously committed plan of
library expansion. Ward did not have additional information on the time frame
for the Pioneer Radio Wing, and added that the group was pursuing potential
donors.
It was moved by Gibson, seconded by Holt, and carried 5-0 to approve
the modification of Exhibit A of the Lease Agreement #594 to allow
expansion of the Thousand Oaks Library.
