May 1, 2003 <br />Page 5 <br />Sorensen discussed the planning process thus far and said a majority of the <br />focus group discussions put emphasis on neighborhood concerns, he is <br />pleased with the new additions to the focus group, and extra meetings can <br />be added to the process. He commended Pluth for his openness. <br />Pluth spoke in support of the focus group process, emphasizing that the <br />planning process is in its first phase. He commended members of the <br />focus group and invited questions. <br />Gibson spoke in support of the process and the goal of consensus. <br />Holt said that the failure to notify some was unintentional, and expressed <br />confidence in staff and the focus group. <br />Jacobsen requested that, in the future, site and adjacent area topography <br />be illustrated, and urged that topography be used to buffer surrounding <br />areas. He said that community parks are meant to serve not only the <br />surrounding neighborhood but the entire community as well, and only 24 <br />percent of 130 acres will be developed. <br />Berger highlighted community park standards, and said that the District <br />makes every effort to ensure that prospective buyers are informed about <br />future park sites, he assured everyone that the District would do its best, <br />and thanked all for their input. <br />Lange thanked everyone, and said that District staff is professional and will <br />continue to work hard on behalf of the community. <br />At 9:40 a ten minute recess was announced.
