CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />MARCH 27, 2003 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Chair Lange called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m., and Ward led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Berger, Gibson, Holt, Jacobsen, and Lange <br />Jacobsen arrived at 7:40 p.m. <br />Directors Absent: None <br />Staff Present: General Manager Ward, Administrators Jorgensen, Scott, and <br />Sorensen, Recreation Manager Wiley, Recreation Supervisor Buchanan, and <br />Executive Secretary Ohren <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />Cultural Unit —Young Artists Ensemble <br />Buchanan highlighted the accomplishments of the Young Artists Ensemble Youth <br />Theater Company, identified upcoming presentations, and introduced the director <br />of The Little Prince, Preston Sparks. Buchanan noted that the group's first <br />presentation, Li! Abner, was presented 23 years ago at Borchard Community <br />Center, and the group was recognized with the Encore Statue Award from City of <br />Thousand Oaks Art Commission in 1995. Sparks presented an overview of the <br />play and said costume design was by Dean Cameron, and original music by <br />Jeffrey Paul, a Young Artists Ensemble alumnus. A scene from The Little Prince, <br />featuring Kyle Kaplan as the Little Prince and Alexandra Stires as the Rose, was <br />presented. <br />On behalf of the Board, Lange thanked the performers and staff. <br />4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />David Robertson, past president of Newbury Park Girls Softball Association, <br />thanked District staff and Board for improvements at Borchard Community Park, <br />and said he looks forward to working with the District for the benefit of Dos Vientos <br />Community Park. <br />
