NEW ITEMS <br />A. Approval Of Agreement With Ventura County Fire Protection District <br />(VCFPD) For Use Of Conejo Creek South Park As Mobilization Center <br />Friedf welcomed Chief Festerling. <br />Marchesano provided background information. He said that the Ventura <br />County Fire Protection District (VCFPD) contacted staff relative to the use <br />of Conejo Creek South Park as a mobilization center during a catastrophic <br />event or emergency such as the Green Meadow incident in 1993; a <br />mobilization center is a place where firefighting resources are staged and <br />then dispatched to emergency incidents as needed; in addition to the <br />VCFPD, individuals from the United States Forest Service, California <br />Department of Forestry, and California Department of Correction would be <br />involved. <br />In response to Board inquiries, staff said traffic patterns similar to those <br />arising during Conejo Valley Days would be expected during use of Conejo <br />Creek South by the VCFPD, and user permits could notice users that <br />Conejo Creek South Park has been identified as a mobilization center. <br />Board members stated their support of the agreement and the collaboration <br />with VCFPD. <br />It was moved by Lange, seconded by Berger, carried 5-0 to authorize <br />the General Manager to enter into an agreement between the Conejo <br />Recreation and Park District and the Ventura County Fire Protection <br />District for use of Conejo Creek South Park as a mobilization center in <br />the event of a catastrophe or emergency. <br />In response to Jacobsen's suggestion to enhance staff capability to react <br />quickly prior to the arrival of fire department personnel, Marchesano said <br />that currently only one member of staff has received first responder training, <br />such training of rangers is planned; and District staff works throughout the <br />
