November 18, 2004 <br />Page 3 <br />to explore whether CLU may utilize Amgen Field for its regular baseball <br />season commencing in January 2005; the only way the field could be made <br />useable by January would be if the entire outfield were covered with sod; <br />time is of the essence in determining whether to permit CLU to help complete <br />and utilize the field; CVLL has indicated its support of CLU's request; costs <br />associated with switching from seed to sod are approximately $30,000; CLU <br />has announced it's willingness to contribute $30,000 toward the cost of <br />installing sod and maintaining the field through April; this would be an <br />opportunity for both CLU to have a field for its men's baseball program and <br />an opportunity for the District to have its field covered with sod, which is <br />preferable to seed. <br />In response to Gibson's inquiries, Friedl said that the field could be ready for <br />planting seed or laying sod in about three weeks, the $32,000 quote for <br />hybrid Bermuda sod over seeded with annual rye includes installation. <br />Gibson said that if scheduling, time management and parking issues, <br />including those concerning Conejo Valley Days, can be resolved, he would <br />support the recommendation. <br />It was moved by Gibson, seconded by Lange, and carried 5-0 to <br />authorize the General Manager to negotiate and execute Letter of <br />Understanding with California Lutheran University (CLU) and Conejo <br />Valley Little League (CVLL) regarding the potential completion and use <br />of Amgen Field. <br />Gibson encouraged staff to facilitate an opening day ceremony, and he said <br />that a scoreboard has already been purchased by Little League and is ready <br />for installation. <br />Allison thanked the District for its help, and said he was pleased with the <br />collaborative effort. <br />B. Consideration Of Proposed Board Of Directors 2004 Meeting Schedule <br />Ward referenced the documentation, and stated that the schedule indicates <br />all meetings are to be held on the first and third Thursdays of each month, <br />except the one meeting hiatus in August, and the schedule can be modified <br />at any time, if necessary. <br />It was moved by Berger, seconded by Jacobsen, and carred 5-0 to <br />adopt the proposed Board of Directors 2005 meeting schedule. <br />
