October 21, 2004 <br />Page 3 <br />It was moved by Gibson, seconded by Jacobson, and carried 5-0 to <br />table the issue and request staff' to bring it back to the Board with <br />more information. <br />Jacobsen requested that staff return with information applicable to any <br />similar enterprise. <br />B. Authorization To Renew District's Special Liability Insurance Policy <br />Lewanda reviewed the background associated with the District's Special <br />Liability Insurance Policy. <br />It was moved by Berger, seconded by Jacobson, and carried 5-0 to <br />authorize renewal of the District's Special Liability Insurance Policy for <br />the annual premium of $94,362. <br />C. Authorization To Proceed With Renovation Of Suburbia Park Play Area <br />For A Total Of $51,700 <br />Friedl summarized the staff report. He noted that the current 2004/2005 <br />Fiscal Year CIP Budget was approved to include $100,000 for District -wide <br />Repair/Enhancement of Playground Equipment; Suburbia Park was listed <br />as one of those in need of renovation work; staff estimates the cost will <br />approach $47,000; the project will include purchase and installation of a <br />new composite play structure, demolition of existing hop, whirl and slide and <br />replacement sand as needed; ADA requirements will consist of a five foot <br />wide walkway from the City sidewalk to the play area and rubber surfacing <br />for the new structure. <br />In response to Board inquiries, Friedi said that it is estimated that the <br />replacement life for the top of rubberized play surfaces is approximately 10 <br />to 13 years, the next budget may include funds for such replacement, <br />Suburbia Park was part of the scheduled replacement program, the District <br />has successfully contracted with Dave Bang Associates in the past, and <br />approximately $50,000 will remain in the account for repair and <br />enhancement of playground equipment. <br />It was moved by Gibson, seconded by Berger, and carried 5-0 to <br />authorize staff to proceed with the renovation of Suburbia Park play <br />area in the amount of $47,000 and a 10% contingency amount of <br />$4,700, for a total of $51,700. <br />
