CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />OCTOBER 7, 2004 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Chair Holt called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m., and Jacobsen led the flag <br />salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Berger, Gibson, Holt, Jacobsen and Lange <br />Directors Absent: None <br />Staff Present: Assistant General Manager Friedl, Administrators Benton and <br />Lewanda, Recreation Manager Wiley, Recreation Supervisor Lukes, Recreation <br />Specialist Dee Pearson, Recreation Supervisor Buchanan and Executive <br />Secretary Ohren <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />Aquatics Presentation — Robert Martin <br />Martin presented a slide presentation of the CRPD Aquatics Program. He said <br />that this year the District has offered over 600 swim classes for 1,800 students, <br />ages six months to adulthood, plus recreational swimming. He introduced Coach <br />Paul Davidson, Conejo Simi Aquatics (CSA), who thanked the District for its <br />support and noted the strong partnership between the District and CSA. <br />4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />Nancy Jo Thompson, Thousand Oaks, submitted petitions and other <br />documentation in opposition to lights in the dog park. She suggested that another <br />dog park be constructed with lighting. <br />Sharon Noel, Thousand Oaks, said that she supported Thompson's position, and <br />was pleased with the dog park as it is. <br />In response to her inquiry, Friedl said that the dog park site is designated a district - <br />wide facility. <br />
