CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />JULY 22, 2004 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Chair Holt called the meeting to order at 7:31 p.m. and led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Berger, Gibson, Holt, Jacobsen and Lange <br />Directors Absent: None <br />Staff Present: Assistant General Manager Friedl, Administrators Benton and <br />Lewanda, and Executive Secretary Ohren <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />Chumash Interpretive Center Presentation <br />Mr. Bob Vann, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Chumash Indian Corporation, <br />stated his appreciation for the opportunity to address the CRPD Board, and <br />introduced Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Robles and Mr. Kirby Trew, members of the <br />Chumash Indian Corporation Board of Directors. Referencing slides, he presented <br />an overview of the Chumash Interpretive Center. Topics included: a financial <br />overview; goals and objectives, such as expansion of children's education <br />programs and special events, preservation of the 427 -acre site and archeological <br />resources; relevant historical information about Lang Ranch; and pending projects, <br />such as the establishment of a docent program and Chumash Elders Council and <br />reconstruction of a Chumash village. <br />On behalf of the Board of Directors, Holt thanked Vann for the presentation and <br />suggested collaborative endeavors with the Conejo Valley Historical Society. <br />4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />Sharon Noel, Thousand Oaks, spoke in opposition to adding lights to the dog <br />park. <br />Bonnie L. Stein, Thousand Oaks, spoke in opposition to adding lights to the dog <br />park. <br />
